Although a number of places on earth actually get more total thunderstorms each year, Northern Argentina, for several reasons, gets more severe thunderstorms/hail/tornadoes than virtually anyplace else on earth outside of the North American continent (the American Midwest and South have long been the world's leader). I lived not far from Argentina (Paraguay, just across the border) for a couple of years as a boy in a military family based there, and I can remember some pretty good hailstorms there, too. Another common area for violent thunderstorms with hail and tornadoes is Northern India/Bangladesh and the windward side of the Himalayas.

BTW, that fellow in the video was taking quite a chance. Large hailstones are no joke....they can sometimes injure or kill.

My Dad was raised in western Kansas where severe thunderstorms, hail, and tornadoes are common. During the '50's and '60's he spent many months at a time in and around Buenos Aires and was truly impressed by their thunderstorms. They were far more violent than anything he'd experienced growing up in our "tornado alley". Out on the pampas, older homes were always constructed of brick, stone, or adobe - largely to defend against these violent storms.
