I'm shocked he got away? I can't imagine its easy to escape Times Square, not to mention there were cops and police vehicles everywhere. The camera was from a pedestrian running or were they a bike or motorcycle? Strange.

Yeah but no one was in the vehicles. It was kinda scary in a sense because you would assume in that area, more officers in vehicles etc. If something had truly happened, the suspect could get away fairly easy because everyone is on foot. I counted 3 NYPD cars in the video

Wow, I'd say he will catch an attempted murder charge. Hope he likes prison food! Idiot. Times Square is just about literally the worst place, in the world, that I can think of to act like a jackass and do burnouts, and not expect to get busted.

You can expect just about anything from morons who smoke (or inject) the kind of powerful drugs (often synthetic) that are readily available in today's drug-market. That doesn't mean, lock, stock and barrel, that the driver of this particular car was guilty of that....but I certainly would place it high on the possibility list.

So many cameras on Times Square, and they still can’t catch that guy.
It looks like they have busted the wrong guy,

Pretty sure there are cameras covering every inch of that area. He'll be caught soon enough.

He did that right in front of the police precinct and there are a million cameras everywhere.
That cop is not too bright standing in front of the car like that, most of the uniform cops are useless and are just glorified ticket writers. Cant believe they didnt catch this guy.

Bright or not, when someone in a legitimate blue uniform (there sometimes are imposters) and a badge says "Stop", he or she means stop. Like it or not, that uniform and badge means authority.....within civil regulations. Translation: Continue at one's risk....and be ready to take the consequences.

BTW, I agree with Dave 600hL....if not a drug-crazed driver, then quite possibly a stolen car. New York City is full of car thieves......always was.

Why would a cop stand in front of a 4000lb vehicle to try to stop it? I hope they are not trained to do that, should just get out of the way and let it go. Thank god they did not start shooting at the car, there was traffic and people in front of it and all around and innocent people could get hit/killed for no reason.

Oh, I agree it was dumb and risky, especially for a trained cop, but nevertheless, that uniform and badge means authority. Stop means stop...or risk getting arrested.

The guy is a criminal and has chosen to run, no need for a cop to put his life in danger at that point and stand in front of a car, just move and pursue.

This reminds me of the guy who did the lap of Manhattan in 24 min. and uploaded the video, he was caught. Seems like nowadays, being caught just takes time, it's inevitable. Even though the cop didn't seem to use good sense, even if I were the driver, I would not drive away when he is in front of me, for his safety's sake. I'm sure many of us have attempted to outrun cops before, successfully and unsucessfully, but at the same time, we would not want a police officer to be injured. You see all the YouTubes of bikes making mincemeat of cops, I was happy to see one where the biker pulled over (he was doing over 160), and took his lumps.
