BMW 3 Series M Sport versus 2014 Lexus IS F Sport

I think the wheels look a little on the small side, and the ride height looks a little tall. But the car in general looks better than the BMW. I like the flow. The BMW looks like just another BMW.

I really really really wanted to like it. I'm trying.
I think it looks borderline hideous right now (to be blunt), but I'll give it time. It might grow on me.
I have no problem with the side profiles. The rear profile looks alright (although it still looks a little "off" to me). The front profile looks terrible in my opinion, though.
Love the interior, and I'm sure the car will drive great.

I know this is a Lexus forum, but the new IS is pretty tough to look at IMO based on those pictures.
It's just too busy....those lower eyelids, the Nike swoosh LED's, the chrome trim along the inside of the center grille, and the double air inlets on the bumper.
The BMW is no runway model but it is fairly attractive.
I foresee the current gen IS to keep it's used prices fairly high now.

As you know I have always said the latest GS350 looks rubbish.
This car has effectively delivered a coherent interpretation of the new design language as did the LS F-Sport.
I can only imagine a facelift of the GS for 2014. The design already looks dated by the newer models.

I think this is the best of the new Lexus cars.

I made this point in another thread, but will repost it here.
People are freaking out about the 3IS because the grill looks completely flat and one dimensional in all of the pics released so far, except for the front 3/4 shot. Folks are looking at it thinking they'll see a huge, sheet-like flat black expanse in person and the reality is that it's more like a waterfall in curvature and shape. In real life, the grill does not look nearly as one dimensional.
Since Lexus has released a small set of over-processed, over-exposed photos, of the 3IS, let me illustrate my point with other cars:
This looks absolutely disproportionate and completely overdone (partly because of 1) the angle 2) it looks completely one dimensional and 3) its too processed in photoshop):
This looks sleek and aggressive because you can actually see the depth and dimension:
vs.
vs.
vs.
Also, Lexus needs to stop showing press cars in white, especially F sport cars. The contrast is too much for most people and it shows absolutely zero body lines or character. It also makes the car look FLAT. Silver or Charcoal would show more character and not be as much of a shocking contrast with the black F Sport grill.
Flat-looking white paint + flat-looking huge grill + over-processing in photoshop = poor first impressions from a lot of folks so far. Lexus needs to correct this and release more pictures of the dark gray car but they generally always release over-exposed, over-processed pics of cars that ultimately look MUCH better in real life and normal photographs.

Man that grill is straight up hideous. And the rear is too futuristic. This looks like a Lexus version o Hyundai trying to look like an alien. Hopefully they will tone it down for the production version.

Too futuristic? Lol, it's 2013 sorry Lexus is moving forward. There is nothing Hyundai in the design that is trolling.
Then you want want to READ since its the production car. Lol
Internetsz strikes again!

New 3 series is a boring design but looks Much Better in Msport, the interior overall feels cheap to me especially compared to 5series. Although i love the seats and Msport steering wheel.
New IS is hideous though, but interior is nice. Too much styling gimmick imo.
Rear looks like Acura TSX

Lets all wait to see them in person. Sounds like people are scared of true concept car detailing coming to life
