You guys have to realize that the market buying the Equus don't care that they copied (or were inspired) so much, in fact, they might even welcome it. They are budget top line luxury car buyers so having cool things from all luxury cars is ok by them.
Only picky *** enthusiasts like us will find the flaws but the same picky enthusiasts won't be joining Hyundai anytime soon until they have proven their identify, etc...
Blame game falls on all of us or none of us. Can't have both. There's only so many ways you can reinvent the wheel.
Regardless of what everyone thinks it's mashed up to be, it's still elegant looking. Honestly if the majority of people were allowed to design a car, they'd come up with something sexy and striking in mind but end up with..

In your mind
What you're actually building
So true. Ford actually took a version of that grill frome the Aston Martin and slapped it on the new Fusion. Looks nice but doesn't make me want to buy one.
An Equus signature is $58k, an Ultimate is $65k. Nothing else comes close for the money. It's not a perfect car, but its a heck of a lot of car for the cash. Our Hyundai store sells quite a few of them; once you get someone behind the wheel of the car it's a very strong argument, especially when a comparably equipped 5 series, A6 or E class is more money, let alone a comparably sized competitor.
To be honest, if Hyundai came out with a car that drove as well as the GS350 F-Sport, looked decent, had adequate power and reliability,I wouldn't be too fussed if it copied anybody.
ESPECIALLY if it undercuts the other brands in terms of price.
The problem is that when examined up close and in detail, the car itself still falls short in terms of over-all handling, fit-and-finish and fuel consumption.
But Hyundai is getting closer and closer with every effort of theirs. I'll be looking very closely at the new Genesis and its Kia stablemate once it hits my shores.

Hilarious.
Toyota/Lexus copies or replicates, internetz go crazy. Lets just think of the absolutely ridiculous GS /sonata tailight thread and commentary.
