As others posted I like the rear but not the front.
I don't like the dash at all. It looks dated. Almost every new designed car has the Navigation screen up near the windshield, so you don't have to take you eye off the road as much (as in the center of the dash). I think the Lexus ES is way nicer !
The ES nav displasy is right near where windshield meets the dash. The Avalon looks a bit lower. In fact the screen looks higher than the lowest part of the front windshield.
The Avalons screen is about the same height as the windshield wiper stalk.

The Nav. screen is a LOT LOWER it's in the center of the dash....See photo below.
I don't like the front end, but I do like the Ford Fusion front end very much.
You might change your mind when you see it in person. I really liked the ES350 in media and pics, but when I saw it in person, I was a bit let down, it does look good but it looks a bit sharkish to me.
With that said, this TRD model at SEMA looks to be wearing the same/similar Audi A7 wheels. Im afraid if I zoom in I'll see the Audi rings on the center caps.
seriously? i think it's a horrible profusion of surfaces, textures, colors, and shapes that ultimately equals fugly.
no doubt though it's a great, large, comfortable car to drive.
oof! i never noticed the wood "lip" or "chin" until i saw the pic you posted. i think the lighting in the pic is bad but it also looks MUCH better in beige/parchment

i hate to always bring opposite point, but I surely hope, and so do all 10 magazines that I have read Avalon reviews in, that all future Toyota interiors are built with same kind of "horrible profusion of surfaces, textures, colors, and shapes that ultimately equals fugly".
I have yet to read one sentence from any magazine about ugly Avalon and especially about cheap interior, in fact every single review was extremely positive about interior and quite few mentioned it is actually nicer than ES (and they all dissed previous Toyota interiors, so it is not like Toyota subscribed to good reviews in that regard).
It would be actually cool if you could find some time in next 2-3 weeks to go and check it out in real life and tell us how it felt in person, and much appreciated too (if you could find time). As this is the future of Toyota interiors, and similar things will be found in many future Toyota's, like Rav4 and others.
Ignoring all commentary from haters that don't even own Toyota or Lexus but keep posting as well others that haven't seen it in person but argue as if they have.
From the pictures and reviews, other than the front grill, this would be a car I would seriously look at if shopping for one at the moment.
PS: I notice that the Corolla style clock is still there though.

Avalon might be too big for me, but if they made it smaller and call it next-gen Avensis, we in Europe would get it.
