http://www.yellowpages.com/wi/auto-m...I&q=auto+mover

Chose the most reputable company that has offices on both sides of the shipping route. They all charge about the same rate to retail, most discounted rates to dealers that can fill an entire trailer or a full train container.

Average price to ship a car cross country is gonna run you in the range of $500-$800 ballpark. Some of the larger companies are Reliable Carriers, http://reliable-carriers.com/quoterequest_csi.cfm, Waggoneers trucking, http://www.waggonerstrucking.com/auto.htm, as well as a host of others. those were the only 2 I could think of off the top of my head after 11 hours of driving (trucker). You can also contact a broker for auto transport through company called You Ship, www.youship.com. If you have ever seen the TV show, shipping wars, you will have the premise for what this company does. Basically they setup an auction for their contractors to bid on the job of shipping your car. May save a little money with this, may not, I have no experience with them.

lol, i have NEVER EVER seen a quote as low as 500 across country.
in 05 i shipped my 240sx from raleigh, nc to silverdale,wa (open truck) for approximately $1000.

in the winter of 09 i moved from WA to san diego, ca and was again looking to ship a car ( i drove my 240 down but needed to ship the SC300 down [undrivable]) i was on youship and similar, and was mostly getting quotes for 800-1000 to ship, open truck.

a closed truck is going to be expectedly a few hundred more expensive.

$500 is on the low side, admittedly, but it is possible through a auto brokerage(albeit UBER RARE). Prices will vary greatly depending on distance, special handling, etc. Was just giving BASELINE bottom line MINIMUM so OP would have at least a foundation to start with. Auto transport companies have high times and peak times, unbelievably, when you can get some really good rates on shipping.

I bought a LS430 back in 2003 from FL, got it shipped here in Vegas for $700. Took more than 2 weeks though, what a painful wait.
