"All New" Lexus Models...NOT!
Has anyone else noticed that Lexus has tried to sell America on their plethora of "all new" models. But the cars are just the old cars with the spindle grille and updated interiors?
Not true for all.
It may apply to some....but not all models. It actually depends on what car you're talking about:
Facelifted (possibly MMC):
-Lexus LS 4th gen
-Lexus LX570
-Lexus RX
All-new (full model change/100% from the ground-up)
-Lexus GS (now on its 4rd generation)
-Lexus ES
So yeah, just to clarify things. Hope that helps

True, the new ES and GS appear to only have significant changes to its exterior and totally redone interior, but their engines remain unchanged. However, there have been major changes to weight/suspension.
In addition, these old engines are still very competitive in their classes. The GS is winning a lot of comparison tests.
Would it be nice if lexus updated their engines? Yes it would. But im also willing to accept lexus keeping their reliable-proven engines and lowering weight while improving handling.

I like the direction Lexus is heading. Its vehicles have a more sporty look, but not overly done. They are more than just the spindle grille and interior updates. Adding new hybrid models over the years shows its ability to expand with market demands. There is a distinct look and feel with each new Lexus model. To be honest, I was more taken by the new ES over the GS. Radical improvements to both inside and out, and the sales numbers won't lie.
the gs and es are all new, except engine/tranny for the most part.
the ls is more along the lines of what you said though.
the rx has a spindle and not much else.
The GS and ES are all new. (Some) of the rest of the models are just slightly updated. Lexus doesn't claim any of them to be "all new."
The GS and ES look radically different from their predecessors, and while the GS has the same 3.5L V6 engine, the driving dynamics (due to suspension parts, etc.) are completely different.

All of them are really great way for Lexus to change their lineup IMHO.
When I was able to chose between RX and GS, I chose GS because RX looked too boring... new one doesnt look anything like that even if it is "just" grille change... Same goes for ES - I would have never gotten one previously while I now wish they sold ES300h in Europe.
imho why mess up a good thing by making it "all new". I am quite a fan of the direction lexus has been going lately to have more sport models with better suspension/driving dynamics to pull people away from the european market.
