Be careful folks. The last Miata was severely old and dated, making anything new look better than it really is. Break it all down and the new one breaks styling rules. Front end is S2000/CRZ, and curved down too much. Looks like it was pre-crash tested and then handed over to a sales lot. Sides are very round, but front is sharp and angled. That is an uncomfortable blend and clash of lines. Taillights are a mess. Either make them round and retro or stretch them out modern like everything else today. Combining the two looks is confusing and tacky.
It's fresh, but would have looked better if the year was 2007.

Haters gon hate. This is the best looking Miata to date. I may trade my 15WRX for this. Lightweight is everything.

I believe the engine is going to a Skyactiv-G engine (currently found in the CX-5 with 155 horsepower), but who knows on what the final details will be.

It's smaller than the current car, and will be notably lighter as well.

I'm not feeling it. Front looks ok, but the tail lights totally killed it for me. Interior looks great though.

Mazda is always doing the right thing, now put the turbo in it, even if it does not make any sense.

Agreed, this car checks off all the boxes, so far. I'll probably wait a bit for the first run, but I'm loving this car.

They only need to make Mazdaspeed Miata on the 2nd year run. I will be all over it.

the exterior looks like the combination of S2000 (front) and vantage BMW Z3 (side profile). i like the simplistic interior ala S2000. i hope they don't put some wacky hybrid or fuel saving measure into the motor, just a plain 'ol high revving 2.0 would do the trick.

I like the lightweight and the new slightly aggressive look, but it's still a hair-dresser...I mean convertible and I hate those with a passion. I'll stick with the 86/GT 86/FR-S.

i never liked Miata, so I dont care how it looked before.

But this looks like a sex toy... and i mean that in a good way. It looks awesome.

Mazda unveiled the latest generation of the popular MX-5 Miata. The 2016 Mazda Miata is completely redesigned from the chassis up to be a lighter more stylish sports roadster.

Default New 2016 Mazda MX-5 Gets a Badass Tuning Render

Our gut feeling from previous experience says the new Mazda MX-5 roadster will become one of the most tuned cars of our days.

We're still far off from official aftermarket parts, as the roadster itself is still undergoing development and won't be available until next year – Mazda hasn't given a date yet, but we suspect that it should go on sale during the second or third quarter of 2015.

In the meantime, amateur and professional Photoshop manipulators will go nuts with their imagination. Two of the first samples come from Hugo Silva and Ollie Evans.

Portuguese designer Silva created the sinister looking black MX-5 with swollen wheel arches and a body slammed to the ground, while Evans imagined the new Miata as a cup racer.
