the A5 didn't come with LED license plate bulbs so I swapped the light assemblies with 24(EACH!!) LED versions...I might have to block half of them...altho I will wait to see how it looks with the real plate....thoughts?? Note - the light is 5000K not blue. Note 2 - forgive me for parking in a walmart lot....I was gassing up at a chevron and needed 2 things from there at 9p at nite.

 

Beautiful car but the LEDs are too bright,IMO.
Very ricey.
Go white but not bright.

 

Which ones did you use? I ordered myself a pair of 2W leds from vleds - they are $24 for a pair.

 

Does using lower wattage LEDs trigger dash light in German cars?
LEDs are less wattage and I thought that may trigger a light if there's a bulb out dash light.

 

It does, but the warnings are usually for main lights, stuff like license plate lights, parking lights, etc do not trigger warnings.

I'll mention that to my son in law who no doubt will now want to install some LEDs in his S Class.

 

You can't really judge it with photos since the camera's exposure can exaggerate the brightness.

 

He needs to do some research before he starts installing leds. Its very important to know what kind of leds you are using, color temperature, power draw and lumen output, directional style, etc.

 

I only use VLEDS bulbs and 5K.
In my IS350 have VLEDs two watt 4 LEDs flanks in the side mrror puddles.28 LED 14 watts in the fogs(I know but I just like the matching of the HIDs),1watt 2 LEDs flanks in the door panels and vanity lights,high power LEDs front dome(not very bright but white) and LED festoons in back dome,360 firing 5 LEDs in the parking lights and a 6 LED board in the trunk light.Again all 5K.I like white light output.
The wife's CR-V is loaded with VLED bulbs too.
We'll have to see what works with his S Class.

 

I'm surprised they still don't have a 4100K led to match most factory HID lights. Between 3500 and 5000K that are available, neither is a perfect match.

true, but with exception of the blue tint in the first pic, the brightness is pretty accurate. I'll make a video and see if its better.

The 5K 28 LED 14 watt is a bit brighter than the HIDs but a much better match than the yellow stock bulbs.
Not a great pic but here's the match on a RX350 I owned.

 

I actually feel that 3500k warm white LED is a better match for stock 4100k HIDs than the 5000k... but neither is perfect.

In any case, they are both def better than halogen.

 

I used a two LED flank for the wife's CR-V and it's fine.
That;s way too many LEDs.
Try 2 LEDs flanks or maybe a 4 LED.I have the 4 LEDs flanks in my side mirror puddles and they may even be too bright for your application.At least with my taste anyway.

Anything warm white is too yellow to me but maybe would be closer as the HIDs have a hint of yellow.I thought they were 4300K.
Too bad the stock HIDs aren't 5K but then they would have less lumens.
