Which used AMG model would you buy?

And just in case I wasn't clear, M156 refers to the brilliant 6.2L V8 engine, which was AMG's first completely in-house product.

Cl65!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2005-2006
I OWN ONE....I HAVE OWNED MANY AMG'S
THE cl65 STILL looks LIKE A $100K CAR AND is priceless on performance and reliability and function...... INCREDIBLE car...
My car has 100k miles... ZERO issues zero repairs since i have owned it......
THERE IS NO CAR THAT has the title " Most powerful production car " out there that SHOULD Sell for $35k but they do... it is a shame and those who don't know are fools when they buy a superior car and those who pass up one with high miles is a fool to not know the quality of the car
_______________and only 194 were built in 2 years.... RARER THEN A Bugatti?
INCREDIBLY DEPENDABLE AND a low 11 second car from the factory.... PERIOD
I have racked up atleast 100k miles on my AMG's and they are still more dependable and BETTER BUILT THEN any Lexus I have owned and anything else as well.....

Type up your maint record
I did it for my M6, I'll do it for the 360 and the IS-Fs when they are complete too
Your words are all subjective and have no evidence to back them up, zero issues to you might be anything under 10k$, zero issues to someone else might be literally 0$

I don't believe the CL65 AMG was ever titled as the "most powerful production car" at any point tho. Maybe it was/is "one of" the most powerful or Maybe the most powerful production car Mercedes built...but I can't find anything that says it once held the crown for being the absolute MOST powerful.

For a fun weekend car, Graham Rahal's Black Series would be fun...

But as far as older out-of-warranty AMG's, I agree with most posts here...you better have some cash laying around for maintenance "if" anything ever goes wrong.

I don't think I'd buy (or recommend) any used AMG, unless it had very low miles, excellent service, a lot of the warranty (or free service) left on it, and was driven sensibly by someone I knew or trusted. Otherwise, IMO, there's just too many chances of it becoming a money-pit.....unreliable electronics and hardware, poor fuel-mileage (on premium gas), a special hand-built motor with insanely expensive parts, insurance premiums often through the roof especially for some young males, and, of course, the traditional empty-your-wallet Mercedes dealer-service/parts.
Of course, torque-monster AMGs, driven sensibly and carefully, can be a blast.......I won't deny that. But sometimes (as in this case) fun=money.

I disagree. Takes a long term owner of many AMGs to make these comments
I have had many and many Lexuses too....
Though I am not a fan at all of the 6.3 engine AMG makes. The 5.5 is great and the 65 is majic. But the 63 burns a lot of oil and has much less reliabilty then The v12's.
AND---- proof????
I have absolutely no reason to lie. If the many AMGs I have owned were problematic I would say it here and not praise the reliability.
THE 65 series AMGs are built with a full production of about 1100 cars a year for ALL models starting from 2005.... They are incredibly rare-- SUPER rare...
To this day not one V12 biturbo has failed. Or so called thrown a rod or broken....NOT ONE...
GERMANS over build their cars and the AMGs are the pinnacle of their superior engineering over any BMW OR AUDI OR PORSCHE...From my experience...
YES it is the most powerful luxurious production car in the world..
A AMG v12 biturbo 65 produces AN UNTUNED 750ft lbs of torque at 1800rpm and 620hp....insane on a car at used price as low as a G37 or ISF.... Just ridiculous
TORQUE moves mass not HP.... So yes it is and has been listed in many magazines as THE WORLDS MOST POWERFUL car....... With $1500 u can get 900 ft lbs of torque and 690 hp....AMAZING....Do u realize to this day how many auto manufactures are still chasing but can never get to that number??? The new GT500- the new Zl1 will still all be less powerful and slower then a 2005 CL65 and or even a 2003 S600 tuned.
AGAIN---
Please name another production car not specialty car or one off car that has the same amount of power?? Oh and u ever own a LAMBO or FERRARI? Give it a shot but they r always breaking down.l.... Always!!
FACT is for such a car more powerful and faster then almost any exotic car and costing much less in the used car market to own... EVEN if they were money pits. It would be worth it....BUT IMO out of the 20 plus I have owned they have been cheaper and less expensive to maintain then any other car I have owned
What makes te AMGs so special besides for sleeper power and engineering?
YOU then have to add in a/c seats and pillow ride and excellent braking and rarity. It is a hard car to pass up on trust me....once u have bought a 65-- CL65 or S65. U don't go back.
I would NOT buy A LOW Mileage AMG...... NO WAY!!!!? If the cars are not driven they do have more issues then one would like to deal with... THEY MUST BE DRIVEN!!! I have owned only 3 AMGs with warranty and the rest without. I DO NOT BUY THE EXTENDED WARANTIES..... If the cars sit they produce leaks in the rodeos or struts and they will become more sensitive to electrical ignition issues..... I have owned a 1000 mile AMG and a 130k mile AMG. And most I buy over 50-60k miles. And they have been super good to me and never broke down...
On my present car. I Replaced the ORIGINAL rotors in the front at 80k miles. Not bad for a 8 piston caliper 15.4" rotor on a 620 plus hp car... Outside of maintance parts. I HAVE NOT DONE ONE repair ON MY CAR IN 23k miles. And with all the other ones I have spent a total of $718.00 in repair costs... Which is nothing for a car that runs 11s in the 1/4 mile and does 206 mph STOCK!!!!!
The maintance is inexpensive.-- the only issues these cars have are suspension problems but in 100k miles on my car it has had one STRUT replaced which costs $650 and was replaced before I got it.
GO buy a nice CL65 and enjoy life..... U wont regret it.... Don't listen to the idiots out there talkng about all kinds of problems they have... If they do they r always weekend never driven AMGs or ones from California where the roads are hard on the cars ABC system....and they drive the cars like a blind man hitting every pothole around.....
