I has in Tokyo for the past six days and have a few observations about the car scene.
It was great, friendly people and getting around by train is a breeze
I did not get to the Motomatchi factory as planned (work scheduling issue)
Great road conditions
Toyota cars and trucks own the market
Euros do well, the bigger the better
Saw fewer itty bitty cars than expected, maybe a wealthy city thing
Vertical mechanical garages with carousels to point your car in the right direction when exiting
Love the old school Toyota Crown cabs with the embroidery seat covers
Gas stations often take the first two floors of a building (no open land) and some have no visible pumps, hoses come down from the ceiling and full serve is the way they roll
Only saw 2 R35 GTRs and one older one
Very few Tokyo drift type cars
Lots of cube van iterations, giving a sense of how the Nissan cube came into being
Did see funny low rider scooters
No NSX seen
Did see a wild pink Big Bentley sedan, oddly had LHD
There was a GT#RS on a flatbed
Saw a couple of ***** vehicles. a Toyota sub brand
Lexus dealership removed LFA display
Big dealership there may be smaller than almost any US dealership (except for Highland Park)
IS 250 is 4.8 million yen, $61K
CT200h is 4.6 million yen, $59K
They had lots of branded golf bag and aroma oil options

My cousin is a bit south of Tokyo. I am so jealous but am going to ask him to bring back some Toyota Harrier parts before he leaves there (he's teaching English).
I love Tokyo, been there 2 times, and plan to go couple years later when my son grow up a little bit.
Love exploring the city, food, people, convenient stores, vending machine, and of course, cars!
