Default Audi A8L

Just got back from Germany visiting our parent company and the CEO of the group drives an Audi A8L. It has 4.2 L bi-turbo diesel engine with about 400 hp. The car is loaded with about every option you can think of. The interior lighting is particularly cool and the NAV screen pops up out of the dash when in use and retracts when not being used.

The interior finish of the car is tremendous and the seats are extremely comfortable/supportive. The drive is very quiet and the car handles really well. We had a 3 hour drive to another location via the Autobahn and he hit a high speed of 220 km/hr (about 136 mph). He was certainly speeding (even for the Autobahn where very little of it has unlimited speeds) but he's an expert driver who has gone to the Porsche driving school and drives his own race cars. I drove it for about a half hour and it held corners like it was on rails and was very steady at pretty high speeds - of course not as fast as he drove.

I like my LS460, but that car was quite impressive - of course it probably cost about $40,000 more. I have no idea what the reliability of the car is or will be over time.

Certainly, Audi is not as reliable as Lexus, but A8L design is classy and interior is first grade. I would stick with LS460.

Both are great cars. Where the LS focuses on luxury, the A8 adds some sport into the mix. I'd be happy with either.

stanatl, that's a cool experience you had! i've driven on the autobahn and it's certainly amazing.

the A8L is pretty exquisite. maybe more akin to the LS600hL than LS460L in a way...

Maybe I am weird but a nice steering wheel is extremely important to me and Audi has one of the ugliest steering wheel out there.

The A8L is beautiful and impressive but be very happy with your LS460.

Default Audi

I have a 2012 Audi now, and the technology cannot be beat. The navigation with Google Earth, and the MMI work really well for me.

It's too early to tell if it will be reliabile, but so far it's great. I have the A6, but I would probably prefer the size of the A8. One reason that I went with Audi is that the design is fresher.

I liked my last LS too. Competition is good!
