So I noticed the Civic's crappy sales this month (for Civic standards anyway), and wanted to see what the trend has been since the Tsunami in March. I'm not sure what the supply issues have been but I would assume they'd be better now than they were around May and June when previous inventories ran dry after the quake.
I know the new Civic is still probably building up inventory but it has been out about 2 months now. I'd suspect they have enough to fill demand, but I could be wrong. Anyone know? In August, they sold only 1/3rd of what the 6 year old model sold in the month of the Tsunami.
I now it's still early, but I think Honda is in trouble with the new Civic. From the mostly mediocre reviews to the wide array of great competitors, Honda's #2 car could bring Honda further down in their decline.
Even the hardcore Honda fan-boys are giving up on the brand; but Honda will blame the slow sales on supplies issues and the instability of fish prices in China.
