Club Lexus Forums: Are there times when you try to hide he fact you drive a Lexus or other nice car?
The bottom line is that much of our society these days thinks it is acceptable to feel and show high levels of disdain for the wealthy. Many people would much rather believe you inherited your money or you just got lucky or you have a magical tree that grows it because it makes them feel better about themselves for not working hard and not making the choices and sacrifices that are required to become successful. It's also apparent every day from social commentators railing against businesses and corporations just because they are profitable. Personally, I have witnessed classmates, colleagues, and even employees suggest that it's not wrong to steal from or defraud rich people or big business under the reasoning that those entities "have enough money". If people are willing to steal from or defraud you just because they feel you can deal with it since you are wealthy enough, you can imagine how many other ways they will be willing to treat you poorly just because you are wealthy.
Of course in the end it is your choice, but you should certainly go into that decision knowing the possible effects.
Before turning 30, I got a relatively secured job. Well 3 jobs actually, 1 f/t, 2 p/t, not uncommon amongst nurses. I would work 6 days a week and sometimes 7. Instead of going all out on a car, I decided to become the head of the household and take care of my parents and my girl. For example, they would all go hand-bag shopping together on a Wednesday, when I pick up extra patient visits after my day job.Was this the best decision for me personally? I wouldn't say so in a self-congratulate manner. Rather I see this as an experience and a learning opportunity. So I think for you it could be the same thing: if you can afford it, why not make the decision, take the plunge, and treat this as a 300 horse power lesson in life. I think it'll be interesting, and whatever you get out of it, I'm sure it will enrich your life
Every time you think about your car payment go for a spin in your coupe.

Like everyone said, do it if you have the funds, but then more then likely you would have to have another car as a DD, most likely a Lexus, so that is why, i also picked the 35-40 timeline.
Another thought, at earlier ages you want to get certain car stuff out of your system, many want to play with older imports, drift, VIP, muscle cars etc.
Me personally, I want to have a well built turbo 2JZ ( SC, IS or Supra), and some kind of GM LS V8 muscle car( Corvette or GTO), before I am ready to have a Porsche.
Lastly, Porsche can be a intro to even bigger exotic things, including Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. Just check out www.6speedonline.com to see what i am talking about.
having driven my friends 911 (996) and panamera turbo, ive settled my heart on 911s ever more than before
always been a fan of porsches since i understood cars when i was a kid
from watching the GT car races around world to following the brand and drools after the 959 when it came out
ive been trying to work out a leasing deal for a cayman today and got to a price i was willing to accept
but at the end, my father asked me to wait a few years to drive a porsche since he thinks i should not be driving to work in one at my age...
at what age do you think is a suitable age to get started with a porsche?
Boris Becker ( Tennis Star) 1st car at 19 yrs. old was a 959. Saw him on Top Gear. I would have answered for him in your poll but there was no answer for 19yr. old I am rebuilding another 300 hp Boxster engine.

Well, I think your dad has a good point. As I mentioned in the thread above, when I bought my C43 (which wasn't even that nice or expensive a car) I actually also bought a used beater that I drove to work and other places when I didn't want to be seen in the C43. The reason is that other people's perception of you will change a lot when they see you driving a fancy car, and usually in a negative (or at least undesirable) manner.

but one point like yours is enough to persuade me to wait a bit more
at this moment, money is not an issue
it is more about what people will think
working in an office where politics exists, it makes it difficult to upgrade a car to something that garners so much attention
(mind you that our GM used to have CLK63 Black edition and CEO has 911 turbo, panamera S, cayenne turbo)

Not trying to be a db, just something to think about.
