2010 KBB Best Resale Value: Toyota & Lexus
Best Brand: Toyota This may be the first time Toyota has won our Best Resale Value Award for best brand, but you can be sure they've been a contender every year. Quality, dependability and reliability are key reasons the Toyota Camry is the best-selling car in the country - and why the Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in the history of the world - and a proven formula for strong resale values. As the country reprioritizes financially, it's not surprising to see continued success for a brand that's built a strong reputation as a smart buy. For those careful with their hard-earned dollars, Toyota makes some of the most appealing vehicles - new and used - on the road.
Best Luxury Brand: Lexus That Lexus would take home Kelley Blue Book's first Best Resale Value Award for top luxury brand should come as a shock to no one. In the 20 years since Lexus sold its first car, Toyota's luxury division has built a reputation for quality that's positively unmatched in the industry. And it's not just the cars; Lexus owners frequently cite the dealership experience as a key component to their satisfaction and one of the reasons their next car will sport the same circle-L badge. Recently, Lexus has begun to build upon its foundation of quality by infusing its lineup with more style and performance. Lexus also offers more hybrid models than any other automaker.

Despite the recalls and the negative press, they still prevailed!

Seems like the best-resale values, in recent years, have gone (or see-sawed back and forth between) three major companies.....Toyota, Honda, and Subaru. But not, necessarily, to all of the vehicles within those three companies. The Subaru Tribeca, for instance, is not popular in the marketplace either as a new or used car. Some older Camrys, with the 3.0L V6, also took somewhat of a value-hit because of the sludge/gel issues in that engine.

i too can see how toyota/lexus both do well in resale value. their reputation, given the recalls and the negative publicity, has remained strong and customer-friendly. i really like the part about the dealership experience and how that plays into purchasing a new vehicle. that aids to the reputation as well. very proud to own both, and will continue to do so, knowing their vehicles will still hold their a solid resale value long after i drive it off the lot.

I can't believe it's Toyota's first win, and after their worst year ever no less.
This must be a reflection of the fact that the whole fiasco was based on bogus nonsense and most Toyota owners know better.

It seems KBB is doing it one year in advance.
So, the 2010 awards are for year 2009. There are new, 2011 awards for year 2010 and the winners are Subaru and BMW. Subaru I can understand, but BMW???

There are still few Lexes and Toyotas in the model-specific awards, but its clear that the recalls had their impact.
