Single drivers that use carpool...
I see single drivers in the carpool lane allllll the time and to be honest, I encourage them! Because (in theory) it is 1 less car in my lane 
But what I do hate is, at night, I'm doing 70-80 in the middle lane and a jerk out of no where begins to tailgate me because he wants to get by me. Hello? There's an open lane to the left ya dolt.

They need to crack down more on carpool lane violators here in FL. Half the cars in that lane usually only have 1 person in them, then when they see a cop, they almost cause accidents trying to get out of the lane. It's not like the cops didn't already see them. 
I don't think the fines for HOV violations are as steep as you guys have in CA though.
