Glad I got the '08. The suspension is just fine and works very well for OEM at the road course. I'm only missing the LSD and that's not at all difficult to solve.

The last thing I want is the stupid brake/accelerator interlock and a softer suspension. No, it doesn't need to be adjustable, because adjustable just means more weight, complexity, and compromise. It works VERY well straight off the showroom floor in '08.

didnt some toyota or lexus guy say 5-6-7 months ago how their brake over-ride systems will NOT affect power launches? it was discussed here as well...

Fuel economy #s have changed for the IS.

IS 350: 20/27, up from 18/15
IS 350: 18/25
IS 250 AT: 21/30 up from 21/29
IS 250 MT: 19/27 up from 18/26
IS 250 AWD: 19/27 revised from 20/26

Looks pretty good, especially since the 3.5L gained a few MPGs, though Im not sure why it made fewer than the GS 350 to begin with.

Why is the 350 listed twice? Is that a typo? Or did you mean the upcoming IS350AWD?

Did I miss the post explaining what caused fuel economy change? Or has it not been revealed?

I couldn't care less about launching the car. A fast lap often includes gas and brake at the same time. We discussed it at length in the F forum. If you can't apply brake and gas at the same time, the platform is limited in a way the competitors aren't and it will be slower.

For example...

But I agree it could pull a taller top gear with ease.

Note: top speed (governed) is already achieved in lower 5th gear on IS350.

Thanks for the info.

A perfect example of how modern 6/7/8/9 trannys achieve high fuel economy while maintaining both smooth and high performance capabilities.

So it's just taller gearing across the range, including manual? I was hoping the mileage increase comes from mating the 8-speed tranny to the V-6's. Well hopefully the next gen then.

Not true for US models. The gearing in US models is unchanged from 2006 according to New Car Features in TIS.

8 speeds in an IS? It will be years before that happens.

BMW already puts the 8-speed in the X3 (across the entire range, including even the 2.0 diesel) and soon the 3-series, so why should the IS stay put?
