the 2IS is a lot more common then the 3GS so the 3GS would probably get more looks.
the 1IS is pretty rare and the 2GS is pretty common so the 1IS would get more looks

The early IS didn't stand out for looks outside of Altezzas. The new model everyone seems to love how it looks, enthusiasts and regular people.
I agree. The 2GS is so distinctive and recognizable you can spot it without even looking for it. the 3GS often just blends into traffic, although still a nice looking car, just not as distinctive. The 1IS for me is definitely a distinctive looking car but not my style. the 2IS is a much better looking car IMHO so seems to stand out more for me.

I agree. The 2GS's influence can be seen on so many successful sport sedans made by more than just Lexus/Toyota.

Agree on most of your opinion. The only exception is when the GS transformed from the first gen (low volume) to 2nd gen, I got it confused so many times from far distance traveling head on with the MB E class. The E class had the quad headlights since the 1996 model and I was so used to look at it and tell that is a MB E class. (people normally want their cars to be easily recognized at a distance) But at a close dist. front view or any other angles the 2GS was so distinctive and quite beautiful.
