Indeed. Unless you had an LS600hL.

The IS 300 was a car to get "looks" in with its yellow foglights and rally type desing and an interior with unique features such as a dash that resembeled a watch. But the IS 300 was slow, inefficient, and not very practical for driving on anything but dry pavement.

The GS consistently gets more stares and glances. And yes I'm talking about the current one. The IS is common, and much more average Lexus styling. The GS looks amazing.

2nd gen GS looks just like MB E series when it first came out. it confused me so many times especially head on from far... until later i learned that lexus was trying to mimic the MB look with its fantastic 2GS.

3GS gets more look imo.

This all comes down to personal preference of the looker.

Personally, I like the looks of the 1IS more than the 2IS b/c I think the 1IS looks more fun even though the 2IS competes with its market segmant better. - I also had a 1IS which I loved so I still notice them out and about on the road.

I like the looks of the 3GS b/c I think it looks sleeker than the 2GS, but having said that, I think I notice the 2GS more often because it is that different looking.

I prefer the sleek fastback lines of the 3GS and 2IS.

IS/GS facelift (when they added turn signal mirrors).

Anyways:
I'd personally like to see an IS with 18 inch wheels (too bad that only 17 inchers are available for the Philippine market )

Plus

The GS facelift looks actually better in-person. I was shocked on this myself cause I thought it looked okay or good......but yeah, seeing it up-front and in real life you can see it is much better hehe

Two cents

I like the 3-GS though there are many aspects of the 2GS that are appealing. The contemporary look of the 3GS seems more stylish.

Both IS's look good to me. With so many 2-IS, it is hard to not see them so it kinda numbs me except for those with sufficient mods.

For me:
3-GS then 1-IS

A well done 2GS gets a lot of looks as well as a modified 2 IS...

I picked, IS/GS before 2005. The main reason why is the 2nd gen IS and the 3rd gen GS, do not do anything for me in stock form. While I like seeing stock 1st gen IS's and 2nd Gen GS's, especially in unique colors.

I never liked the look of the 3rd gen GS. It just looks strange to me.

The 2IS (base - not the F) is one of the best looking cars ever made, IMO. I do agree with others that it is very common though.

My car gets more looks than a worked IS. Thats just a fact. The IS is common and a much smaller sedan so it doesnt have the same look as the GS.

You learned this from? The quad design head lights came from the early SC which at that time Mercedes was still pumping out brick style headlights, but nice try.

I think a worked IS gets just as many looks as a GS, but the GS seems to have more presence.

^^^ now you're mixing oranges with apples. SC to MB E-series (read my op please)?? nice try too.

It is no secret some early Lexus models look alike the Germany rivals. Same thing can be said the look of the new Genesis.

I think a modded GS/IS look fantastic (current gen) and I can't say one gets more looks than the other. The GS maybe based on the fact that it is bigger.

Another point is the 2GS looked so original back from 1998-2002 or so. Then when all the Nissans, Infinitis, Mazdas, etc started sharing the same roofline, short hood/deck well it simply lost the look.

Today I sadly have confused the Jaguar XF, Altimas, Maximas,G37s etc for the 3GS so it really is harder for it to stand out, especially in dark colors. And yall know I am a car buff.

In comparison nothing looks like the IS and no one has copied it.

Neither car garners much attention, period-stock. Dress up a GS though and it stands out, difficult to do with an IS with the stubby stance to it. IS-F being a bit different.
