Default Porsche Planning Three New Models

Hard-Core Cayman
Carrera GTS
911 Speedster

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...er-spyder.html

Porsche is planning to introduce a hard-core version of the Cayman, inspired by its new Boxster Spyder model. According to information provided from a recent dealer meeting, the new model will be introduced in the Spring of 2010 (possibly at the Geneva Auto Show) with less weight, more horsepower and an overall design inspired by the new light-weight Boxster.

The Boxster Spyder is 176-lbs lighter than the standard model and boasts a 10-hp jump from it’s direct-injection 3.4-liter flat-six. With 320-hp on tap, we’d expect the Cayman model to deliver at least 330-hp and when combined with Porsche’s dual-clutch PDK transmission should hit 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Pricing should be roughly $65,300.

In addition, Porsche is expected to introduce a new limited edition 911 Speedster model at the Paris Auto Show. It will be limited to just 100 models and feature the Carrera 4S widebody but will be rear-wheel drive. It will come with a 408-hp 3.8-liter flat-six, combined with Porsche’s impressive 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Other highlights will include a limited-slip differential, PCCB brakes and 19-inch wheels. In true Speedster style, it will come exclusively with just two seats and be offered in either blue or white. It won’t be cheap, however, with an MSRP close to $200,000.

Then at the Geneva Auto Show in the Spring, Porsche will deliver the Carrera GTS. It will get unique styling, a sport exhaust and center locking wheels. Like the 911 Speedster it will get the same 408-hp engine, but will be offered with a 6-speed transmission. It will also be rear-drive but with the wider body and track. Both a Coupe and Cabriolet will be offered priced at $103,100 and $112,900 respectively.

VW does want more volume and more than anything a Porsche below the Boxster as a new entry level model.

I read the new Cayman is code named "Cayman RS", similar to the special edition Boxster RS that came out prior to the new Spyder...

Will push 350+ HP but Porsche apparently fears it will replace the 911 as the ultimate Porsche... from a purist's perspective, the Cayman already has

I heard a rumor, that while under development, it was the better machine between the two, and they had to "dumb it down" as to not step on the toes of it's older sibling.

This is all hearsay of course, but I could believe it. I mean after years and years of tech improvements and engineering, they find a way to implement newer and better hand in hand with cheaper.

Seems we might get a version of the Sport Classic. Doing a direct Euro conversion it would cost $255k
