Car is freakin gaudy. Gigantic vertical grill, bedazzled headlights, character lines all over the place. What a mess.

Agreed. Ruined. A huge busy mess. No longer sleek or coupe like. Looks like an old shoe. The last one was perfect. Oh well, people will buy anyway

Interior looks FANTASTIC though

I guess Hyundai and VW have to update the Sonata and CC now

The design really works from the back and especially in the side profile (it just looks muscular and MEAN) but from the front it all gets scrunched together perspectively and looks busy

once again benz innovates in design with their quarter bulge seen in the e class, e class coupe and now the cls.

as if the current cls was not already a design genius!

nice but I don't see the market going towards these gas guzzlers as the next trend, not looking forward to 14 mpg ever again!

Seems like a little bit too much "passion" in the exterior with all its lines and curves. In my opinion, it the front needs to be simplified because its too busy and the rest needs to be toned down a bit. Interior is great though.

Not a clean design and looks dumpy. The granny hips or "dog kneeling down to take a dump" bulging rear fenders ruin an otherwise slick design. Why manufacturers still insist on putting oversized fender flairs on streamlined and athletic cars is beyond me. Let the shape of the body do the talking, not added on flab! Mercedes, Mazda, and Subaru need to take a note from Audi.

Looks a bit disintegrated.

Side profile is beautiful.

I like the wheels.

The muscular rear fenders are very aggressive. Masculine.

Oddly shaped headlights.

I blame Kia/Hyundai for making me hate the boring taillights.

Side mirrors look like spare parts from other cars.

Overall, I like the 1st gen more...

stare at the 1st gen cls long enough, and you'll notice it's just as ugly and dumpy and droopy, and looks more like a shoe than the 2011. The first gen looks more like it could be the weinerschnitzel mobile.

I like the new side profile much better, except the big nose.
would've been better if they kept the slanted nose.
maybe Brabus will come out with a redesigned bumper.

The 2011 will grow on you if you stare at it long enough.
You hate it now because it's different.

The previous CLS is not for everyone but there is a simple purity to it's design. Call it a banana if u want but it's simple. It could lose 2 doors and be a coupe.

All recent Benz designs have ditched simple and elegant for overwrought and busy. This looks like another sedan and lost the coupe look.

Why does it need 100 lines in the body? The rear hunch doesn't work on the E class and it doesn't here.

Again it's a moot point at people are going to buy it.

new CLS is absolutely amazing! just when u thought the CLS could no way be improved; you see benz pull it off again!

I don't see how anyone would go for the S class when the wicked CLS can be had for cheaper. This can kinda hurt them due to the fact that many
will go for this and avoid the s class.

what a looker! bow down bow down to the germans!

It's a shame how these European pedestrian safety laws are interfering with creative car design.

I'll have to see the car in real life before making my final decision. The front might look better if the car is parked in front of me...
