Finally found some items to share on this car.

French anyone?

I believe the only prototype was destroyed by BMW, it made 550hp which is far cry from the CSi which is suppose to be a detuned M8 but it makes around 350 iirc. But who knows because they did finally released new pics of the E34 m5 vert. If I can't find a copy of that mag any someone here does would you please scan the article for me.
The closest thing that came to being the M8 was the Aplina B12 5.7 which made around 450hp i think. Here some pics of it.

Lexus Fanatic
The 850 for me was the king of the road back in the day for the luxury car makers. V12, great looks, and BMW label. I just wish it didnt fail so badly. I see them rarely on the road and when I do its like seeing an old celebrtity
1JZ Single SC400
Its also one of my favorites too. I still love the TT Supra and the NSX also!
8 Series will always be a classic in my opinion.....I'm not a BMW fan, but just something about that car screams presence.

Back in 98/99 when I was in tech school, we had a BMW program and got the chance to take the 8 series apart, most complex engine I've ever seen, saddest day was when BMW came back for them and told us they where gonna crush them

Looks like they removed the pop-up headlights to squeeze that engine in there. There probably wasn't a suitable solution (e.g. HID's) to provide enough lighting out of those driving lights.
I don't know about that half window though. Never liked that look on any car, like on the Subaru SVX.
But that car is still beautiful today, a decade and a half later.
