Thanks DriftGirl.

Very cool pick up.

If BMW was so heavily invested, they should have at least brought it to market in a very limited edition model (think LF A ) that would have at least proven that they could compete with the supercars. To this day that remains in question.

Building M3 track variants does not make them Ferrari/Lambo competitors regardless of what BMW owners think.

Well, one could argue the Z8 was a "supercar."

I don't think I've heard that argument. It used the M5 V-8 which was not a supercar engine. It seemed to be more of a nice collector item/retro car than some autobahn stormer. Nice car though.

+1

Nice car, George Laraque used to bring his by regularly, but definitely not a supercar.

I still feel that the 8 is one of the best looking BMWs ever. I used to drool over them back in college

^ sorry, I can't agree. Awesome roadster: yes. Supercar: (sadly) no

I think it takes more than just how the car is made to make it a supercar.

So they actually made the M out of a 850?

It's a shame they discontinued the 8-series... it was a beautiful car.

The factory claimed a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time of 4.7 seconds; Motor Trend magazine achieved 0–96 km/h (0–60 mph) in 4.2 seconds. Road and Track measured the car's lateral grip at .92. Car and Driver magazine also tested the car and found that it outperformed the contemporary benchmark Ferrari 360 Modena in three important performance categories: acceleration, handling, and braking.

i guess we need to go and define what makes a supercar first
whether beating Ferrari 360 modena on all 3 aspects is enough or does it have to shed BMW's cold, calculated approach and have some true spirit in its soul to be considered a supercar

A guy at my work has an 845 and 645, both in black and both clean as h3ll. The 8 just looks so classy

BTW Georges Laraque actually fit into a Z8? haha I know he's not huge but a pretty big guy no less.

always liked the 845, as it never really had the nose of a 3, 5, or 7 series. great looking car indeed, in its very limited form.
