There were a few years where I would have said that Mazda had the best looking cars in the mainstream segment- the old 6 and 3, CX7 and CX9, RX8- all lookers for their respective classes.
Now they have bastardized the 3 completely and ruined the front of both SUVs. The new 6 is very good looking, I'll give them that. This new "thing" though...looks absurd.
Horrid front and side styling on a product no one will buy. Mini-minivans are not wanted in the US, just look at the current 5. This is a total waste of funds, resources, and management salary (if pushed in the US).
Aw man, this reminds me that I forgot to ask about the reasoning behind the moronic smile on their cars to a Mazda designer that I know. I was too busy asking him about the RX-7.
Who the hell buys a mazda? I mean c'mon.... zoom zoom?
that being said... I actually like all the new redesign steps Mazda has taken. I just wish they had better trannies.
In the Philippines, Mazda is the only manufacturer (well aside from Subaru) that brings in "MADE IN JAPAN" vehicles in relatively low prices compared to the competition. How so? We assemble Mazda 3 and Ford Focus for local sale and export to Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. In return, government gives tax incentives which means lower prices for Japan-made vehicles brought here.
I mean, who else can give you a Japan-made Mazda 6 that's cheaper than a Honda Accord made in Thailand.
Almost same case for Subaru here but they make use of a free-trade loophole (i.e. they ship their cars from Japan to Singapore.........before shipping it to us). As such, they qualify for zero-tariff under ASEAN FTA
