In the Philippines, Mazda is the only manufacturer (well aside from Subaru) that brings in "MADE IN JAPAN" vehicles in relatively low prices compared to the competition. How so? We assemble Mazda 3 and Ford Focus for local sale and export to Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. In return, government gives tax incentives which means lower prices for Japan-made vehicles brought here.
I mean, who else can give you a Japan-made Mazda 6 that's cheaper than a Honda Accord made in Thailand.
Almost same case for Subaru here but they make use of a free-trade loophole (i.e. they ship their cars from Japan to Singapore.........before shipping it to us). As such, they qualify for zero-tariff under ASEAN FTA

,Its really just what fits your lifestyle! I like my Mazda 5. -Its roomy inside and not too big like a minivan or suv on the outside.
-Sliding doors and not too high ground clearance good for transporting the baby/kid.
-good mpg.
-3rd row seats.
-I personally like the drive.( drives like a car/wagon)
Its fun to drive the IS-F on wk ends but when I drive the Mazda on wk days I kinda fell fresh, reborn lol( maybe because the f is dark and small on the inside like a cocoon)

The Mazda5 is pretty sporty, no joke. I was surprised myself when we had one as a rental. Ok, the 4-spd gearbox ('07 model so before the 5-spd upgrade) was pretty pathetic and the stereo sucked big time but it was fun-to-drive!
