Mercedes unveils SL and SLK special editions

Although Mercedes wasn’t so kind as to provide us with actual examples of the new SL Night Edition and SLK Grand Edition for the Detroit Auto Show, they were so kind as to give us a few teaser pictures and details.

Mercedes is well known for introducing many factory-built special edition vehicles and commanding premium prices for them. Continuing tradition, Mercedes has now announced a new SL to be known as the ‘Night Edition.’

The Night Edition features an optional special matt black finish, 19-inch AMB five-spoke light-alloy wheels in a two-tone, high-gloss finish, silver-painted front brake calipers, a darkened Mercedes-Benz emblem and darkened headlamps/tail-lamps.

Inside the Night Edition SL you will find black nappa leather contrasting chrome accents throughout. The seats feature a new design with arrow-shaped seams and silver contrasting features. The rest of the interior is finished in combinations of high-gloss black and silver.

The other special model introduced by Mercedes today is the SLK Grand Edition. The Grand Edition comes in an exclusive graphite paint finish that is highlighted by equally exclusive 18-inch light-alloy wheels styled with triple five spokes, silver fins on the hood, painted headlamp housings and a color-matched third brake light.

Inside the Grand Edition you will find basalt grey nappa leather in the same seat style found in the SL Night Edition. The seat belts are done in grey two-tone for dramatic effect, which is surrounded by nappa grey leather accents throughout the interior. To make sure that the exclusive nature of this SLK is well communicated, a unique emblem is embossed on the dash near the glove box.

Both models are available for ordering now.

 

Matt Black from the factory...wonder if this will make it to any other models or if this available on the SL AMG? (Not that I have the money).

 

I think I will like the look once I see them in person.

 

another matt black finish? it's getting a bit boring i have to say

i am more interested in the finish on the slk
