Default Clear Bra + Painter's Tape too much?

Hi peeps,

I'm about to embark on a road trip to go home for Christmas tomorrow. I currently have full clear bra on hood, fender, bumper, mirrors and lights.

I was wondering if I should add some extra protection and use some painters tape on some parts in the front or would this be overkill? Obviously I'd only do this for long road trips not for daily driving.

For those with clear bra, did you add extra protection on long road trips or just left as is?

thanks!

I left it as-is. I only see people without clear bras putting on painters' tape when they go on long trips.

If you feel comfortable adding the painters tape for the road trip then go for it. Alot of my friends, who do car shows and have clear bras as well, do so. It won't hurt anything and you also know that the painters tape comes off very easily with no ill effects. About the only thing that may happen is that you may get some strange looks from some folks, who don't understand why you did this, as you ride by them. I would advise, however, it you gonna cover arear in the front, then just go ahead and cover the entire front end of the car; makes it look a little less crazy. LOL!

hmmm, well when I first bought the car i put the entire front with painters tape, it was a bit of a hassle. i'll probably do this, i'll drive there without painters tape while keeping my distance from cars and see how it goes. if things go well, then on the way back i won't put painters tape, if i see some chips on the bra here and there then i'll put the painters tape on on the way back.

couldn't risk it on a still plate-less vehicle from CA to AZ then back.

just leave it as is, nothing is 100%, not like you are going to put masking tape all over your car. the clear bra should help you a lot already

You wouldn't be asking unless you were concerned about damage. Give yourself some peace-of-mind and tape it up.

Then post pics.

I wish I did something to my car before my trip last week. It was really windy and a BIG tumbleweed hit my car as I was driving along. So many scratches were left on the front bumper.
