another HSD driver.....
I was a little tired of my daily driver, a nice little Mazda 3, so I picked up this Prius last week. I really love these cars...saved about $10k from the original window sticker. its a 2008 with 28K miles, $16.5K, 2 smartkeys, backup cam, side curtain airbags, etc. The thing is HUGE inside, much bigger than the Mazda 3 - averaging 62mpg in my 3 trips to/from work (52 miles RT every day)...I'll post the pics to prove the MPG.

I was also looking at a used '10 Pkg II 7K miles -- could have got it for $20.6K, but it was out of state and didn't feel like messing with it -- decided to wait for the plug-in version or CR-Z. What kind of MPG are you getting with yours?
Congragulations.
I think you made the right decision......you'll probably be happier with a 2Gen 2008 or 2009 Prius than a brand-new one. The new 3Gen 2010 model has, admittedly, a more efficient drivetrain and slightly better handling, but, IMO, the cheapness/thinness of the new sheet metal and interior materials is disappointing. It seems to have been done both for cost-cutting and lower weight. The 2Gen model, IMO, had far more solid overall build quality.

05 - properly broken in, summer is on avg 50-55mpg, nearly 100% city driving. Best is 3.9L/100km (60mpg). Cruising 70mph nets me 47mpg. Worse tank is probably somewhere in the low 40s, usually in the winter (cause I don't care as much about mpg cause snow = bad drivers = safety first. Plus I tend to do donuts which definitely don't help mileage lol)
10 - not broken in, 4.1L/100km on the first tank in Aug. Currently averaging 4.4L/100km on my current tank, 100% city, winter tyres, winter fuel, stupid cold that sometimes warm up to 58 then back down to 32. The two are driven in two different cities. The 05 in a hiller city with 50km/h speed limits. The '10 in a flatter city with higher speed limits (60-70km/h).
Mountain driving netted me 55mpg back in Sept. On the way back, it was worse, netting me 52mpg.
