What I own or what I have on order has nothing to do with how I think. My purchases are the sum of hard-though calculations. I fail to see how these companies see it fit or acceptable to be continuously developing and newly releasing these high-end sports cars at the expense of reliability and value in their lower-end, mass-appealing models. Maybe it's just me, or because I'm a businessman, but I don't see this as being acceptable, not in these times.
These high-end sports cars are very important. Automakers see fit to try new styles and develop new technologies, that can influence future products. Halo cars are perfect to apply this mentality, because the automaker need only to produce a limited number. The LF-A and SLS make perfect sense to me.
Back to the article, the SLS is gorgeous. Retro and Modern in perfect harmony IMO!
I figured this was coming as soon as news of the car broke. No doubt that with the SLR gone Mercedes will want something at the very top of the spectrum...SLS Black Series would be cool. That said, I still cannot swallow the exterior styling of this car. Reminds me of the bad points of a Viper and S2000 put into one vehicle.
I definitely agree with others, the styling of the SLS is really mediocre. It does NOT look like a supercar or even an exotic in any way. The SLR looks a lot more aggressive style-wise than the SLS. I'm sure the SLS Black Series will be fast, and it will be exclusive compared to the regular SLS, but I doubt they can do much to make the car look more aggressive.
You don't have to like the design, but such a statement...
It's obviously my opinion. Yes, I don't like the car, and yes IMHO it does not look like a supercar or exotic. It just looks like an elongated roadster to me.

Is there some rule I am not aware of that explicitly defines the way a supercar is supposed to look?
Obviously not, or you wouldn't be dumping massive amounts of cash into heavily depreciating assests. Contrary to what you believe, there are many other very successful business owners on this site. The difference is most choose not to put so much of their hard earned cash into high end vehicles....and didn't get set up by our parents.
A Koenigsegg is never a highly depreciating asset. With so little being built, I wouldn't be surprised if mine didn't keep its current value.
