First 30-day sales of the Sai ended in 14,000 units, beating Toyota's monthly sales target of 3,000 units:

The Japanese people sure love these hybrids.

I wonder if the Sai sales are gonna hurt the HS's momentum since their essentially the same car.

I doubt it. Despite the similar looks, each have their own highlights. The HS has a lot of luxury and tech features the Sai lacks.

It went on sale on Oct. 20 as mentioned in the link I provided, so we'll likely see it in the top 10 of the November sales.

For a country that small, that is impressive!. We only have 14,000 Prius owners in Canada (1st and 2nd Gen)

Basically, it means that Toyota buyers will get Lexus interior quality even in cheapest models (for instance like Prado does), so thats nothing anyone can complain about.
The Avensis platform can't be too luxurious, a Scion tC has the same platform

I travel to Latin America a lot and Toyota Prado sure doesn't have Lexus interiors there....just the standard Toyota 4-Runner like plastics and cloth.

it looks expensive in real life too. But using same/similar platform for toyota vehicles mean nothing, at base level, Rav4 and MR2 shared platform... so what? :-).

But Avensis/Sai/HS share many components, not just basic platform. Avensis is as luxurious vehicle as you will get from Toyota, and in many things more luxurious than IS, let alone Camry ;-)

Basic plastics in Prados for European market, even the cheapest ones, are very soft, just like on Lexus, and cloth is premium one. Sure, everything is stipped out on cheapest models. American 4runners that get imported sometimes, have very cheap interior quality, more close to between our Yaris and Corolla than Prado. New Prado interior quality is even better than LC200's in many things, again, due to sharing most of components with GX.

QFT

I mean, when you compared the total land area of Japan against let's say USA or Canada, you can tell that Japan is teeny in this regard.

Yet even with their abundance of public transportation (esp. trains), they still buy automobiles in the THOUSANDS (every single month).

Crazy numbers

The back looks too much like the current generation NISSAN SENTRA.... which is not a good thing!
