Technically, it's a rebadged Lexus. So you're getting a bargain Lexus with a Toyota badge?
I'm really interested to see why the Sai is cheaper though.
Do we know this for a fact despite he HS coming out first? I would be curious to know if this was originally designed as a Toyota, and hence the more econobox look.
Got this info.....Toyota/Lexus are selling every last Hybrid they can make and its hurting US production. This is with low gas prices!!!
In Japan
Prius is already sold out and earliest delivery date to customer is around May 2010
Lexus HS already sold out and earliest delivery date to customer is around June 2010
Yeah but part of that scarcity could be because production favoured U.S. spec cars.

Excellent point. Just because the HS came out first does not mean it was designed as a Lexus. Clearly the HS is a rebadged Toyota Sai. Every aspect of the HS reaks of Toyota. It does not have Lexus styling and looks like a fancy Corolla. It all makes sense now

actually, it is using platform of Avensis, which is more luxurious than Camry, let alone Corolla and the fact that it is very low volume vehicle that has more tech features than any other Toyota, probably means that it was engineered with both versions in mind.
Basically, it means that Toyota buyers will get Lexus interior quality even in cheapest models (for instance like Prado does), so thats nothing anyone can complain about.

Makes no difference. The engineers who put this thing together put it together knowing full well that that it will be used as a Toyota is some places while in others it will be used as a Lexus.
