Default 2IS and ES floor mat "recall"

so i went to lexus of cerritos the other day to get a quick wash.. ended up stayin another 20 minutes because my floor mats did not have the hook on the carpet that holds the floor mat on. supposedly, legally they could not let me drive off the lot unless it was taken care of.. a buddy of mine that works in the service department(which is also a CL member, but will remain nameless) got me in and out of there quick mode. just posting this thread to all of those who are curious about the recall

not really a recall but yeah stay safe everyone. dealerships are just putting the driver's floor mat in the trunk.

Most dealers are securing floormats with black zip ties to the seat anchors as a temporary fix until there is a permanent solution.

Glad to hear that it wasn't some ghetto fix just for Toyota lol. Though I was pissed to see them poking holes in my floor mats in my brand new Camry

Does this apply to overseas markets as well (or is this concern for American market only)???

P.S.
Sorry if this has already been answered

Floormats aren't just smooth and slick on the bottom; they often have rubber nibs or small fingers that stick out and are supposed to bite into the carpeting and anchor them enough so that they don't slide forward. That often doesn't work, though, because the nibs aren't large or durable enough.

And then, of course, when you have big, heavy people like me (6" 2", 270 lbs. with a man's size-15 shoe), that puts a LOT of pressure on the floor mats, too.....and they are going to slide.

I am sure it is far more illegal to hold your car against your will, unless you have not paid what you owe, than to "allow" you to have your car without doing what they want to do to it. My IS350 floormats will not be changing unless Toyota offers better quality mats for no charge
