I think what he meant is that Audi and VW has more seperation as two auto company than Lexus and Toyota. Sharing power train and platform do save money, but the disadvantage is the similarity between the lower and upper end products.

I honestly really like the LS460, I am actualy thinking about a used one a s replacement for my ML (08's with 20k run in the 50k range not a bad price) but this new one looks real bad.

To Lexus : If its not broken dont fix.

Mercedes had the SL run from 1990 to 02 in the same basic shape, it looked great in 90 and it looked great in 02, why? Because if you get something dead on (like the ls) you dont have to change it up unless merc audi and bmw have something outlandish, even in that scenario a refresh wouldent work.

I dont think any Audi looks like a VW and yet they share platforms, engines, etc. Please provide an example.
Audi TT, A/S5, A8, R8, Q5, Q7 look nothing like the VWs.

I personally really like the LS460 styling, only the front looks bland, but overall it looks nice. Its the fact that it shares so many styling cues with the Camry that really turns me off.

well first, both have those trapezoid like grills with the chrome

off the top of my head, the A8 and the phaeton share similar headlamps/front end

totally agree

the LS looks like a camry XL.

Only recently did toyota differentiate the camry by making it UGLIER, with the klingon grille.

recent lexus refreshes look like 3rd graders did them.

Lol, that’s funny. Lexus' if not broken, don’t fix it approve is getting old. The problem with that approach is that one can become too complacent and not realize it when it is actually broken.

Who else is going to buy it ? US is their biggest market ...

I sure hope Canada gets the Sports version, currently(starting 2009 model year), RWD LS460's are only available with the Touring Model, so I suppose the LS460 SZ will replace the Touring Model as the RWD choice ?

This looks really nice. Everything is balanced, the grille and the rims work great together. The car still looks classy but the trained eye can detect a slight hue of sportiness. Tastefully done, not overdone. Gorgeous.

This doesn't work at all in my opinion. It's almost the complete opposite as teh LS above. Let's begin with the mesh grille. What does that usually define? Sportiness and perhaps some aggressiveness - two things which the design of the LS lacks. I feel that the rims are also "extremely sporty" and again, do not suit the character of the LS. To me the LS is a car that is best left as it is. No aftermarket wheels, no modifications: nothing, keep it stock or style it like it appears in that first photo.

No doubt, this is a subjective topic but I know which of these two I'll be considering.

I honestly do not see enough different in the two pictures to say one is gorgeous and one is not. Both picture looks like a car that is in need of a re-design. The LS's design is only a few years old and it already look like something from the 90s.

IMO this can be said of all Lexus models I always felt Lexus cars aged greatly after a few years.

anyone and everyone who has seen my 2009 Ls 460 has said it is the best looking car they have seen in a long time.

the only change i made was to upgrade the wheels.

there is only one direction the ls 460 design can go from here, and that is down.
