[QUOTE=Koma;4775556]Rumors were stating that the RWD coupe would be priced in the low to mid 20s.

Thats what I heard as well but I hope Toyota will be smart enough to price the tC and the rwd coupe far enough apart so the rwd coupe doesnt steal all the tC sales

$5k grand difference might be enough to distance them and RWD will keep a lot of people from buying it. Many tC owners have their cars bought by their parents. Most parents are not willing to buy a RWD car for their kid.

Most parents won't know the difference

Huge difference...
Actually no. The tC will likely start in the 16-18K base price range. The Toyobaru is supposed to start at around 20K base price. The Toyobaru is supposed to be more performance-oriented than the tC and aimed at a slightly older buyer.

Might be tough to pull off.

The tC (because of no price negotations) is already $20k with a few options.

A Toybaru RWD coupe is going to cost significantly more. Even Hyundai can't keep the FWD Tiburon near $20k. It's going to be similar to the Genesis coupe's $25-30k...

I was referring to strictly MSRP numbers that are estimated. In terms of actual transaction prices, that may be a different story. Insider information consistently states that Toyota is trying extremely hard to price the Toyobaru coupe at 20K USD base.

Anyway, the iQ could potentially save scion. Doubt it would further the brands purpose, but it will sure as hell sell. No idea why Toyota chose to help butcher xD sales by bringing out 5 door Yaris.
torque? a 2.7L will have a lot more torque than a 2.0 litre, right?

The 2010 Camry SE 2.5L already makes 179HP. With a bigger engine, I can easily see Toyota getting 200HP for the tC.

Hopefully they keep the tC light, improve it's handling, and make the styling more aggressive. Also more factory-supported performance mods would be nice.
And the Venza's 2.7L makes 186hp. 14hp bump is quite easy with little modification

yes, I know that. My point was 2.7 ought to be ~250hp. Unpractical? of course... but for me bigger engines should make bigger power. The emphasis on torque only leads me to think that the car will be a pig.

Torque is what really matters in daily driving though.

I would rather see decent HP and torque figures rather than super-high HP and low torque. I hate that whole "motorcycle" philosophy of engine building, with peaky high HP engines and low torque. Sure there are high HP, high torque engines, but they tend to be very expensive and only found in exclusive models.

You would rather have a 1.3l motorcycle engine than a 1.8l car engine with more tq?

People's tastes are different, personally it's not my preference.

This is similar to how people chose Hondas with low torque over competing models that offer more torque.
