Yeah, you got it all right except it's not a Corolla...
Agreed. But like the Corolla the new Lexus makes no attempt to be sporty or fun to drive. It will be the first high mileage hybrid to provide some luxury, which I view as a plus in the marketplace.
I've seen one HS250h on the road, it actually reminded me very little of a Corolla.
The HS250h shares the platform with the Avensis and in a closer examination, it does look like an Avensis more than a Corolla, especially in the front quarter view:

Understandable considering that tall roof/tall side glass profile (practical, not especially attractive).
btw (OT), thanks for your input on springs/suspension mods for the IS350, very helpful.

The HS250h is actually pretty fun to drive, especially with the Touring Package. This is an entry level luxury car. If you want something sporty or fun to drive, the IS or possibly the GS are the cars for that purpose.
Have you driven an HS yet? If not, I would encourage you to try it out. You'll be surprised.
from the now posted pictures of the corolla and the HS, the only similarities really only include the lower body cladding and MAYBE the headlights but thats stretching it.
All in all, doesnt look like a corolla, but that doesnt mean its especially pretty to look at. lol

Agree.
The HS250h is not a pretty car to look at but it certainly does not look like a Corolla except both share the tall up-right stance in order to maximize interior space.
