Just thought some of you might like to see a Starion tearing it up.

I remember it well. The Starion was a Mitsubishi-designed sport-coupe of the 1980's that Plymouth/Dodge/Chrysler also sold, in a rebadged version, as the Conquest. I don't specifically remember test-driving one, though. Dodge also had, in addition to the Conquest, a domestically-designed coupe called the Daytona, but it was a different car.

I had an 87 Conquest Tsi - 5-spd turbo 2.4L 4-cyl. Really liked that car, until it had to go in the shop multiple times for the fuel injection system. That was my 1st sports car. Shoulda kept it and did a motor swap.

I bought a brand new Conquest Tsi in 1988 so I'm certainly dated, very cool car for a 21 year old, nothing on the street (within reason) could match the look of the flared body and staggered wheels, the Conquest had an optional suspension package not offered on the Starion, 10 way adjustable damping on the struts and wider wheels and tires, 8 and 9 inch vs. 7 and 8 inch on the Starion, still have the window sticker somewhere, when I think back on some stunts that were pulled in that car I'm lucky to be here, big fun.

My neighbor down the street had a Starion when I was growing up. He was always the "cool" one that no one knew much about.
Didn't those things start the digital dash craze?

I own a Conquest and had more fun in that car, than any other car I've owned. It has the best heel and toe you could ask for, and more torque than any other car in its class hands down.
I am selling her because I have no more room for her. I was even featured in a Japanese magazine when they came and were discovering the American touge scene.

I cracked the exhaust side of the first turbo. I blasted through a puddle after racing a IROC-Z. Water splashed up and in. At that time the only tuner was Top End...I swear I called that guy a hundred times owning that car. Got a 16G snail for replacement and it all went down hill. Dumped almost $9k into that car...Remember this was in 1994, that was a ton of cash back then.
When it was all said and done. I was putting 340hp and 338lbsTQ at the rears. Mid 12sec 1/4 all day on pump gas and street tires...Back before everyone was reading Turbo Magazine...before The Fast and the Furious.
Mentioned above was the infamous injector hiccup. I think I replaced those clips like 8 times before I got new injectors and a modded plenum/body.
I would buy that car over again in a heartbeat now.

I preferred the Conquest TSI over the Starion. Between the 2 of them the Conquest was, asthetically, soooo much more desireable to look at.
I actually thought it was one of the earlier model Chevy Cavalier Z24's which actually kicked off the digital dash craze. I remember that my Uncle had one of them back in 1985 and I loved his car b/c of the digi-dash. I do remember that the digi-dash as well as a throaty exhaust made this car quite a hit back in the day.
