140 through the streets of Paris, in a Ferrari 275 GTB
On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris early in the morning . The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine , through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.
No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.
The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.
Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground.

seen it before good find there has been some controversy about this vid in the past. But def worth watching again Kinda like the cannanball of years past there is one guy that has broken the record recently from ny to the pier in Cali that had to wait more that a year before he could put it out there due to statue of limitaions so he wouldnt get tossed in jail, i think he broke it on his 4th or 5th try. It's on here on the web somewhere and is a great read. Did it in an M5 and has participated in all the Gumball rallies. Did a quick search here it is http://www.wired.com/cars/coolwheels..._cannonballrun

According to this Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%27%C3...un_rendez-vous, the car was an Automatic Mercedes and the director dubbed a Ferrari soundtrack to it; kind of lame if you ask me.
I agree on the "lame" aspect of overdubbing the soundtrack but, he made up for it a bit by using the sound of HIS OWN 275 GTB!
