Default Traffic school or no?

My dad got caught for rolling on a bus lane and we like to find out if this violation requires him to attend traffic school. The ticket had the 'infraction' box checked. Anyone?

it's not up on the DMV's site yet?

most infractions are OK for traffic school as long as it's:
1. his first time going to traffic school
2. it's been 18 months since the last time he went.

The ticket also had a "correctable" box and that wasn't checked. I'm assuming if that box was checked, that it means the ticket requires traffic school. Since it's an infraction, does it mean traffic school isn't needed?

I'm still digging thru DMV's site for info.

correctable gets checked if it's something like tints, no front plate, something that can be fixed and shown to get the infraction dropped.

what's the CVC code for the infraction?

Oh, I see. I believe it's this: http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d11/vc21655_5.htm

Damn, I better go call the court tomorrow to see if traffic school is required. sigh.

Yea sounds like he's gonna have to go to traffic school, unless you guys think you can fight it.

most counties have a court website where you can get all this information. for the most part you won't be able to do anything until you receive the notice in the mail.

the SLO courthouse is slocourts.net
and for SFO try http://www.sfgov.org/courts

My friend just did online and somehow it got messed up so she has to take it in person now anyway. And the modules she said were kind of long.

Anyway, I think your dad HAS to go to traffic school. It's just that they give you the option. Depending on the ticket amount and affect on his insurance he may want to just pay it and let it be on his record.

I got a ticket a ticket, albeit for no head-lights, could have done traffic school to get it off my record but my agent told me it wouldn't affect my premiums and to save the trip to traffic school until I got a ticket for speeding, red-light violation, or an infraction that would affect my premiums.

There are some insurance experts on here so perhaps they can chime in on this.
