The best option is to buy a used Porsche that is fully optioned out. Suprisingly the average new Porsche ownership is 14 months, many get bored of their car and order a new one. It can get really crazy, one can fully option a boxster to the tune of $80,000! Save the headaches buy someone else's fully optioned car, they take the price hit not you.

Right after I bought my Boxster S on E-Bay a 2000 model came up for sale, simular to mine but with more options. Original MSRP was $95,388.

Status symbol man. You can't get girls with a Toyota

Those who can afford Porsche don't complain about the cost.

The higher price keeps everyone away, gotta keep it exclusive.

Other factors like R&D, the low volume, motorsports etc aren't on people's mind but they go into the cost.

I thought it was common sense that Porsche = $$$
