leather-trimmed?
Hi! the 2019 RX350 I just got says the seats are "leather-trimmed"...what does this mean? are only certain parts leather and the rest is Nuluxe? What's the difference between leather-trimmed and leather?
On my 2017 450H the semi-aniline (protective top coat) seating surfaces are leather and the rest of the seat, side and back is vinyl but still pretty nice like NuLuxe. I far preferred the luxurious feel of the Nuluxe in my ES-350 to the premium leather in my 450H. Regardless all the leather is plastic coated in almost all cars including the Lexus.
I believe they are the same. There is no 100% leather seats available anywhere any more. Seating surfaces are real leather. The rest is not.
Great information. My RX also has "leather trimmed" and I wasn't sure which was leather. Now to figure out the best way to clean these ventilated seats. The NX I had was just Nulux, to be honest, it seemed softer then the leather trim in my RX.

The Nuluxe in my ES FSport is in fact softer then the leather in my wife's RX.
I would expect that real leather in a car would not last well unless it was tough - searing heat/sun then freezing cold, butts sliding in/out, moisture getting on it when raining, all these conditions would make soft leather look crap very quickly.
