Tough choice? 2009 Audi S5 vs 2010 Audi S4
So... Audi will be replacing the 4.2 V-8 in the S5 later in 2009 with the SAME all-new forced induction V-6 found in the upcoming 2010 S4. Hp for both around 333hp with 17/27 mpg AND 0-62 in 5.1 seconds... the S5, currently, gets 14/21 mpg with 340hp.
The question: S5- with the incredible looks, couple handling (yes, it will handle better, already beats S4 in Europe track/slalom/skid tests) with 2 less doors and aproximately $10K more ($55K-$63K)
-OR-
S4- two more doors, higher ride, slightly narrower, has operational moonroof, smaller rims... $50K, arriving late srping/early summer
Which would you choice? And if the S5, the current V-8 or upcoming forced V-6?
I LOVE the S5, but the S4 looks VERY goooooooood <Hannibal Lector voice>...........

s5 easily man. it's more money, but it looks so much better. unless you absolutely need the rear doors / seats, s5 is a better car
now the engine.... i am a bit torn, but i probably would go with the v8. i like the v8 sound more, and to be very honest, a car in this segment, i tend to not care as much about the gas mileage

The S5 V8 sound, stock out of the box, is amazing. It makes me tingle all over And with aftermarket exhausts (AWE, Milltek, GMG), the sound is a wet dream. The upcoming supercharged V6 might sound good, but it can never sound as wonderful as the V8.
Yes, the tradeoff is gas mileage. Commuting, I'm averaging 20.5 mpg. I haven't taken it on trips or to the track so no comment there. Just commuting.
