Post Audi A4 L unveiled

Starting January 2009, Audi will offer the Chinese market an A4 that is 60 millimeters (2.36 inches) longer. The 2009 Audi A4L will be the first long-wheelbase premium B-segment car measuring a total of 4.76 meter (15.62 feet) with extra space that offers spacious legroom that is comparable to a full-size sedan.

Power comes from a 2.0 TFSI engine that makes 180-hp or a 3.2 FSI that makes 265-hp. The chassis was reworked to Chinese road conditions to provide more suspension comfort.

Production of the Audi A4L takes place at Changchun, China. The car made its debut yesterday and will be shown at the Guangzhou Motor Show on November 18. Sales of the Audi A4L will begin in January 2009.

Wish they would come up with a different model for Hawaii's road conditions

Why would something like this be offered in China?

They probably want to test to see if Chinese production quality on their cars can match their Euro-produced models before shipping them outside of China.

Props to Audi!

To me it's a nice blend of an A4 with closer to A6 legroom. I think it will do well.

this is great. i mean if the IS came in long version...im sure it would increase a lot of sale since almost everyone says leg room is horrendous

This is a great idea. I always founf the rear of the A4 to be useless, less so than a 3 or an IS. About time.

This seems silly to me, just buy a bigger car if that's what you really want.

Many automakers offer long wheel-base cars in the Chinese market.

The new 09 A4 has a large rear-seat in standard form.
