Default I'm trying to be open minded here....

Look fella's (and distingushed ladies) I'm really and mean really trying to be open minded to this VIP style. I mean this is all new to me. Someone posted this in another thread---> http://www.snapriot.com/forum/galler...12_02_2041.jpg

If you guys dont have anything better to do, run this down for me. Whats hot bout this? How in tha HELL is this car driveable?

Why would you purposely slant your rear wheels like that? What happens if you hit a dip or bump or sumthin? You have no room for what i call "the bounce". You'd rub like hell!!! I mean comeon, help me out here.

Care to elaborate. To me theres no room to rebound if you hit a bump or dip. I dunno? But the slanted rear wheels? Although its hella different i must say is a complete mistery to me.

Gotta pay to play, that's what those ppl are doing.
Spend thousands of money trying to make the setup right.
I am into it, but not to the extreme, since I drive my car all the time, not just for shows.
and the pic shown is the car doing straight line real slow. most of the VIP guys do is PARK LOW, DRIVE HIGH. hence you need airsuspension.

There are so many thing about VIP style, too much to explain here. go to VSC.com and visit VIP style section here in CL to give you more idea.

shhht looks pretty f*kin dope though...... thats an extreme example of VIP. you don't have to camber to that extreme, there are milder VIP cars as well. its about fitment of the wheel in direct relation to the fender. A departure from the "DUB" style where it's basically "get big shiny wheels and if the bolt pattern fits, put em on." regardless of how high the car sits above the wheels.
if you check the sticky on top o this forum, theres a modified LS pic thread. Most of those are VIP cars. its a dope thread.

it's on air suspension, so he can raise it if he needs to clear obstacles.

tire wear, bad handling, etc are all small prices to pay to achieve the proper VIP look. The car is very nice, will look more proper once he readjust his sideskirts.

That crew is from my town. He posted that in the Pacific forum. Damn nice Q45

As mentioned above, with the right setup, the wheels correctly butterfly into the wheel well without rubbing over bumps. That's why it is important to buy wheels that don't stick out of your car. Get the correct offset.

i love the VIP look
def gottta pay to play but thats why with the ls430 i waz leaning torwards a sporty look

i would do VIP once i graduated high school and had a steady life..
but i would never do VIP if it was a daily driver unless the car was bagged

It looks like God stepped on the car. I accidentally stepped on a few of my Hot Wheels cars when I was young and they looked like that. I'm with ya, it just looks messed up to me, like the car is broken or something. I'm all for modifying and improving and lowering and making things sporty looking etc but at that extreme it just gets retarded to me. But some people like it and I guess I'm glad we live in a country where we can do it if we want.

Ok lemme get this straight this car is VIP to the extreme. Obviously not a daily driver. But what is the advantage of slammin it to the ground? Just for the look or what? The kit on the car i can deal with its not to crazy and i at least know the purpose is just looks, which is perfectly fine.

Any body got any other input? Also i'm a lil curious of why i get the sense that the "DUB style" is looked down upon here. Its so obvious that this "VIP style" is the majority here but i cant stand havin that feeling that just because i like this---> That my taste sux. I dunno?

The car is simply on air. Which he can make changes to his ride height at anytime. The advantages of lowering your car is for handling, and personal preference in looks. Dis-advantage is tire wear on the inside. IMO I think a slammed car looks sooOoOO sweeet! I will always and forever drop every car I own! ......and I have done so already...............

+1

I've lowered every car that I've owned, from high school to now. Lowering gives a better sense of performance but in reality, not at the speed most of us are driving. You would never see a formula 1 or nascar hopped up because it doesn't make sense. If you like 24's Southern style, its your car, don't mine anyone else's option. But just do it correctly without destroying the dynamics of the way the car handles.

Haha. I know where you got that pic of the Y33. Like some of the others stated, the Y33 is on air. If the roads are in great condition (no dips, bumps or pot holes) you can ride around slammed.

That GS is full on dub style. But kinda boarderlines on "Donk" style. Haha.

the thing about vip is that scraping, rubbing, etc. are all part of the game. if you're not scraping and rubbing youre not low enough. now you don't want to rub your tires, while at the same time having them as flush as possible to the millimeter. that's why we run that negative camber. it keeps the top of the tire and wheel inside the fender so it doesn't rub so we can get even lower. it's all about the look of being on the ground. my rear tires last about 4 months before the insides are worn smooth. then i take them off the wheels, flip them around and get another 4 months out of them. then i pick up a new pair.
i personally hate a car that has more ground clearance than my truck. it's ridiculous. but that's just me. vip suits me very well because of that. if you can see daylight under the car, it's too high. i ride around on coilovers about 4" off the ground daily. my exhaust scrapes on speed bumps.
a lot of people on here are pretty conservative so they don't feel as strongly about being low and having a super aggressive fitment as i do. everyone likes what they like.
