Ive been trying to post this all day, at SF, but the site's acting up and wont let me start a thread. I dont know where else I could post this, and actually get a response.
This local woman has a 94 Supra TT targa auto, white w/ black leather and chrome tt wheels. It has 150,000miles on it, a small rust spot on the rear hatch area, and a small dent in the pass. quarter.
I havent looked at it, yet, but this is what she's told me. She's had the car since '97. She had a boost controller, and turbo timer installed (suggestion from her bf). She doesnt drive it often, and when she does she runs it hard.
It has a parasitic draw on the battery that no ones been able to figure out., so the battery has to be charged constantly. And just recently she says that when you run it hard, it misses. She said it makes 20psi (stock twins!) and has been doing so for ten years, but now hessitates and misses at wot.
Her boyfriend said to take it out, and run the **** out of it, ...untill the problem clears up. I told her NO, please dont do that!
She wanted $12K for it when it was running right. We havent discussed price on it, the way it is. Im going to look at it today, and do a compression test. If it tests ok, I was thinking about offering $9-10K.
What do you guys think?

Hah jump on it. The miss is probably just spark plugs. If she had a boyfriend who was telling her what to buy who knows what his experience was. Probably had her get NGK 3330s (badass plugs) that only last about 3000 miles or so. As for the battery draw- probably a door sensor. I still haven't figured out what to do about this myself but some targa cars break them when the targa's off from a hard pull. If the door sensor is broken you'll know because the warning light in the middle of the tach will be on with the door shut. That light will drain the battery within 3 days. It's a ~$30 part.
Bottom line it's probably just stupid minor problems. Even at $12k it's a steal!

I go and look at, ....you guys wont believe this. I drive the car,and it misses and cuts out anything over half throttle. I tell her I want to do a compression test.
I got 142-146, on all six, ....which is low. 150psi is low. Number three plug is melted. She say, "Oh, well I should get you to put new plugs in." I said sure, ...I wanted to see if it would help, anyway.
So I put new plugs, and fixed three wires going to the coils. The casings were cut and chafed.
Retest drive the car, and it hauls ***! Still had a little studder, but it was still like ight and day. She says "WooHoo!, Im going drivin tomorrow!" I then tell her, that Id like to go ahead and buy it. I offered the $12K, that she wanted, ...She says, "No, ...sorry boo. I would need at least $13,800."
So I left, and she got a free tune up. She couldve offered me $20, or something. I drove an hour, just to see the car.

I know, but I thought I was buying the car, ....and I wanted to be sure it didnt have any major problems. I did get screwed though. That kinda thing only happens to me.
I think I'll just hold out, and buy a nicer Supra, that doesnt need anything. One thats been better taken care of.

Im thinking of calling her tomorrow, and asking her would she please please please take $12,500 for it. Maybe I can make her feel guilty about it, or something.
