My New Toy
So I sort of gave up waiting for my S5 that I had on order and decided to get this beast instead. It's a totally different car from the S5 but it rocks! The torque in this thing is just neck-snapping! The sound of the V8 is scary enough to make the neighborhood kids run inside the house. It drinks gas like no other but it has the performance to justify it. I've had the car for a few weeks now and have already done a little here and there. The most obvious mods are the Maya DLS's, the blacked out grill and the blacked out "air-turbulence" strips on the hood and fenders. I'm planning on getting a smaller pulley soon that should be good for another 80hp without having to alter the fuel map or any other sort of fuel or CPU mods.
The car is a CPO vehicle. I've never bought a used car before so I was a bit hesitant when my friend told me about it (works at a MB dealer). He knows how I am about cars so he wouldn't have bothered to tell me about it unless it pretty much was brand-new. The car is absolutely immaculate, inside and out. When I saw the car for the first time I actually thought it was a brand new one and asked to see the actual car that he wanted to show me. I was shocked. The car had 19k miles on it when I picked it up, is a 2003 and doesn't have a single wrinkle in the leather. Another thing that convinced me to get this car was that I pretty much stole the damn thing. I guess with the combination of gas prices and the economy, a lot of people are turning in their high-dollar cars for something more affordable which in turn is flooding the dealer lots with high-end cars which they are literally giving away. One thing that was stuck in my head was regarding reliability. It is CPO but even so, anything that breaks down is such a hassle. I guess having the CPO warranty and a friend at the dealership relaxed me a bit (even though the dealership is like an hour away from South Orange County). The car is just meant to be driven on weekends so I guess if it ever does break down on me somewhere, I won't be to far from home.
I think the car has pretty much every option-package that was available back then. I'm not 100% sure if I am missing anything though. I've always been a huge fan of the SL55 but could never justify to myself paying $150k for a brand-new one.
Anyways, I love the car and hope you guys enjoy the pics.

Congratulations on the purchase...what a beautiful car!!! The R230 body style is a classic and one of my favorites
Although the S5 would have been nice, the SL55 is in another league. The torque on the 55 engines is insane and the exhaust note is amazing. Great pics...enjoy the new ride
