With the new infiniti fx50 just coming out... i can just imagine them using that same engine.. tuned more.. and same 7 speed transmission to come out with a G50... most likely 415-420hp

 

Interesting theory. My only reason for believing Nissan won't make such a car is because they don't want to make another model that would compete with the GT-R. Other than that I think it would be a good idea.

 

Yeah, I don't think they would do that either because it would cannibalize sales.

 

There was some talk that Nissan may make a 4-door GT-R and badge it as an Infiniti model. Well see if this idea/concept will take hold. Given the US current economic climate and rising cost of fuel and the barrel of oil, consumers are looking for better fuel economy vehicles.

The IS-F was released in a tough economic year, the car should have been released 2 years ago.

PS- Well 1 owner has taken hold of the GT-R, it was sold Sun nite @ Universal Nissan, guy bought it @ MSRP, no markup, he'll be the only one. Lucky bastard.

There have been rumors of an Infiniti version of the GT-R or using GT-R parts as well as a G50 coming. Thing is, they really need a smaller engine(s) as all their vehicles guzzle gas.

In CAR mag, Ghosen stated a car higher than the M35/45 is coming so we shall see.

 

Interesting to see/hear that Infiniti will throw a V-8 into the G-coupe/sedan. If they do, I am sure they will give the consumer bang for the buck. If they decide to put a V-8 into the G-sedan, it'll be a bat out of hell experience ride. I think all manufacturers are wise on our economic stance and will come out with better fuel efficient motors. BMW has already in the works that they will scrap the V-10 in the M5 and will have a Twin turbo V-8. Many bimmer enthusiasts are not happy with the change, but once again auto manufacturers are trying to wind ways to be fuel efficient, price conscious and still make a buck. Anyone buying a car in the next year will have a car that reflects our current worldwide status.

I think it's safe to say that it's more likely to appear in the next M than in a G variant. But I like the idea of a G50 with the 7-speed.

 

If they make G50 i dont think it will be easy on gas it will probably be a little slower than the IS-F and burn a little more gas. Would be nice and could work without stealing GTR sales it would be an M3 competitor not a porsche turbo killer like the GTR.

 

The next M35/45 will become either 35/50 or 37/50. Both will get a new 7 speed auto. THing is MPG will remain pretty similar to what it gets now.

Infiniti has an "S" model G35 (G37 sedan comes this fall) and the convertible G37 coming. Also there is a small 370Z size car that will be badged an Infiniti coming too.

Absolutely no word on any kind of performance brand. THe IS-F has a 5.0 V-8 making 416hp, the Infiniti 5.0 V-8 makes 390hp.

 

Forget G50. What they really need to bring out in this day and era is a G30 (thinking 260 hp and 20/27 mpg)!

Not only that, they need to put a 3.0L VVEL VQ in every model line (except QX), as the base engine. Make the bigger engines options!

Renault stated Infiniti will get their diesels by 2010 so we shall see. Also a 2.5 engine is rumored for the new 350Z size Infiniti coupe.

Kinda funny the original G20 was a 4 cylinder with decent fuel economy.

 

Well.. the original 5.0l v8 from the lexus LS600hl was less powerful then the IS-F engine... just changed some things.. from what i read.. like new headers and stuff.. so it can prob be done easily with infiniti's 5.0l

 

lol, not new headers. The 5.0 in the LS 600h L is detuned. as it is a hybrid, ala the RX 400h and GS 400h also having detuned petrol engines.

The Lexus 5.0 is capable of more power, they tuned it for realibility. I've heard 450hp EASY.
