from stop, yeah, but on freeway speed or rolling start? the 65 can smoke the 55 or 63, especially if you go after 70mph

I bet with 750lb of torque, you would still be able to light up the tires even from a roll up to 50mph. I've personally never driven a 63 or 65 series MB, but even the 55 series is too much of a beast. The most powerful cars I drove are E55, Viper (2001 I believe), heavily modified Caprice (6.1 or 6.3 stroker motor, rear slicks, well over 400hp), and a 12 second awd Talon (not sure of its horse power rating). And you know the Talon by far was the easiest to handle, minimal wheelspin, and crazy acceleration during which you can actually make some maneurs without being scared for your life. Don't get me wrong, Im not trying to take anything aways from the other cars, especially the Viper - it has so much raw power that nothing else even compares, but all of these cars could benefit from AWD. Maybe pro racers can do better lap times with RWD, but for average drivers AWD, and quite frankly even FWD, is just easier to handle.

Ha, it'd better be faster considering the MSRP of the S65/SL65/CL65 approaches $200k

That is one of the reasons I got the E63 instead of the M5, the interior looks so much better IMO. Also, I prefer a more comfortable ride, so I was willing to sacrifice handling (M5) for comfort (E63).

In the end, it is up to you: E63 which is more luxury oriented or the M5 which is more performance oriented.

You can't go wrong with either one

the 63 actually has less tq, that's why some amg owners complain. i drive the car and it's ok.

it's just like some who say the gs350 is just as fast as the gs460 from 0-60. that's true, but misleading at the same time coz' on rolling speed up to 120 the gs460 will pull in front. that should be a more valuable measure on larger displacement engines

but i also think the price of 65 series is insane
