E90/92 M3 priced (merged threads)
It's absolutely clear that this is direct respond to the lexus ISF. If you look at other countries where Lexus has no market dominance, BMW hiked up the new m3's price like no body business. I am sure BMWUSA did a great job and fought for the pricing.
I'd expect the M3 to get free maintenance...? It's part of BMW's strategy, which other luxury makes do not offer or dropped. OTOH if your car is pretty trouble-free...
Anyhow, it's pretty clear that BMW is not responding the way it and Mercedes did when the LS 400 entered their domain...pretend it didn't exist, and keep the prices high until it was too late.
At least one can say the IS-F and competitors evidently forced them to ante down the price. What that does to profitability is questionable, but they laid off workers recently and probably make extra on the basic 3-series.
Definitely a good point, that the base price may further help sway reviewers. However I wouldn't count on these measures to snuff out the IS-F or the F-division in its crib.

agreed on the first count.
bmw has made it so you really have to drive the is-f and like the experience enough to place a premium on it. while i havent driven both, i cant imagine that being a good thing for lexus. especially when bmw drops the dual clutch tranny...
btw
do the M cars get the free maint too?

You do realize most of these cars ARE NOT tracked.Get a grip and knock off the IS-F jabs at every chance.
Very good pricing for the M3.
you need the DCT to do a direct comparison with an IS-F, price is unknown
$53800 sedan + Premium package $1900 + 19" wheels $1200 = $56900 without the DCT, closest spec you can get to compare features with an IS-F, could even add in 1050 for a moonroof if you want.
ISF + Nav/ML = 60k
M3 sedan $56900 + $3250 Nav + $1900 audio = 62isk, still no DCT
$53800 sedan + Premium package $1900 + 19" wheels $1200 = $56900 without the DCT, closest spec you can get to compare features with an IS-F, could even add in 1050 for a moonroof if you want.

Damn.. I did not expect their price to be that low.. Good move by BMW. This is a real blow to Lexus. Who would have thought the mighty M3 is cheaper than the ISF?

Oh, BTW,,, real men drive stick.
