Its Vanguard - V6 long wheelbase rav4 which has nothing to do with facelift/MMC.

A lot of people don't like the weird, rubber-banding and motorboating sensations that an unmodified CVT drivetrain often produces, so the engineers program in artificial "gear" shifting "ranges" that more or less mimic a conventional automatic.

Why? It's not supposed to be a Lotus Elise. SUV's have to have ground clearance for mud and snow.

PERFECT!

And for those who "love the RAV" - at least the current version, I'm betting you have not been in a 4cyl one. I rented one and it was just that - a rental with a a cheap plastic interior (the glove box was the worst part). Compare that to the current gen CR-V.....

I don't care if the RAV4 interior is worse than the first Toyota ever made, I wouldn't be caught dead, brought back alive, and killed again dead, in the new CR-V which is ugly, rainbowish and has the image of the teletubbies.

Yes, I'm certain its a good drive and the interior is fine and it does everything well in the usual Honda fashion.

Again, badge that thing a Pontiac and you could call it the next generation Aztek.

I don't particulary care for the CRV look but Honda is planning a US diesel that in its Euro form gets hwy mileage in the 50s. This is supposed to arrive in MY2009.

I can compromise looks for that type of fuel economy.

The Explorer was one of the first SUVs of course, but Ford now also has Taurus X, Edge, and Escape which are all selling pretty well so the overall numbers are WAY up over those early Explorer sales.

lol - I wouldn't be caught dead in a RAV-4 that only an '80s GM executive would be proud of its interior.

The CR-V interior is excellent for its price point.

I'm more concerned about interior than exterior. Considering I sit in the car all the time, I need something that makes me feel welcome.
