When Toyota had balls.......
As a longtime Toyota fan, I am disappointed with the current offerings. They had the right idea with the last generation celicas: tighter package, lighter and great motor with the GT-S.
A few of my favorites:
FJ40s, 1971-74 (RA2x) Celicas, TE72 and AE86 Corollas, 86-89 4Runners, 91-95 MR2s, 93-95, 97-98 Supras, 02-04 IS (Altezzas)
If i had to pick up a new Toyota Mo. Co. product, It would be a IS250 6MT, Corolla or Scion Tc

I think the op of this thread defined "*****" as power. With this generation Supras with 320hp, Celica gtfour with 250HP and MR2 getting 200hp... we got *****!
I'm sure you have a point but this thread is about Toyomoco cars that had *****... and you introduced a that has none.

The problem of their average buyer age going higher and higher is SELF-INFLICTED.
Its great to see Honda and Toyota do so well financially but they are LOSING the spirit that made them quirky and well Japanese with the products sold in America. Japan has tons of interesting an fun products from them, even Europe.
America gets an Accord bigger than an RL and a Camry bigger than the GS.
Its not ***** or losing money. It is all about resources. Toyota simply did not have enough engineering resources to spend on low volume cars. This will be changing by 2010.
I dont really care anymore, I am family man now and my MR-S Turbo (probably the best rated Toyota in EVO magazine, ever) is collecting dust.
Give me some V6 diesel/hybrid SUV and I will get excited.

Besides, American never got the Sera anyway.
heh. Seriously though, an affordable sports car would be nice. The LF-A is sweet, the IS-F is great and that rumoured Supra (whatever the car will end up being called) is also good news for us. But if you want the 20 somethings, they can't afford any of the cars. They're stuck with Lancer GTS's, Mazda3 Sport GT's (I think you guys call it "s" or something?), Civic Si's and Sentra SE-R's.
The XRS models are a nice try but not really exciting (esp. the new ones which will get the 2AZ engine from the Camry/tC). A RWD coupe for the price of the above competition and decent power (150-200hp) would be great.
Or drop the price to the Yaris range, have a smaller engine with the option of turbo/supercharging it (TRD?)
